Celebrating Women's History Month

The U.S. Embassy in Georgia Announces

Call for Entrepreneurial Proposals

Tbilisi, Georgia - The U.S. Embassy in Georgia announces the call for Entrepreneurial proposals for 2013.

Georgian women entrepreneurs (individuals or organizations) are invited to submit proposals to the Embassy’s Public Affairs Office on their best entrepreneurial idea and business model. The proposals should support the empowerment of women in Georgia with entrepreneurship capacity for their increased self-sustainability, eventually engaging them into traditionally male-dominant business community.  The proposals will be judged based on the following criteria:

1.  Business vision: business model on how to generate money and have a good sense of the gross and net margins at the creation of the company.

2.  Market demand/potential: a proved demand for a product or a service to the extent to which customers, including individuals, institutions and other businesses, seek after it.  Demand is also related to the purchasing power of customers.

3.  Social impact: The effect of an activity on the social level of the community and well-being of the individuals and families.

A panel comprised of U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Office, Political and Economic Section, USAID, and American Chamber of Commerce will select five winners who will be paired up with business mentors in the international community in order to help applicants to develop further and assist in implementation of selected business ideas.

Note that this is not a grant competition and no funding is attached to this call.  U.S. Embassy in partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce will link finalists with prospective business mentors and partners.

Public Affairs Office will present an iPad to the author of the winning proposal and an iPod to the second place winner.

The deadline for submission of proposals is March 15, 2013.  The finalists will be notified about the results by March 31, 2013.  Proposals shall be e-mailed to Sofia Gegechkori and Giorgi Gabunia.  The submission form is available at the following address.
