t was recently reported in the Georgian media and the Russian media that a United States Military team was visiting the airport at Batumi. This visit was a long scheduled visit to examine the facilities of the airport, and its emergency landing capacity.
It was incorrectly reported that this US Military team had earlier been involved in examinations of the Gabala, Azerbaijan radar station. This is not true. The US team in Georgia has no connection with proposed Missile Defense assets in Europe.
