Deputy Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Visits Georgia
Mr. Joseph R. Wood, Vice President Dick Cheney’s Deputy Assistant for
National Security Affairs, will be in Tbilisi Georgia Sunday, May 27 through
Tuesday, May 29. While in Tbilisi, Mr. Wood will meet with President
Saakashvili, Prime Minister Noghaideli, and members of Parliament. He will
also meet with Minister of Economic Development Arveladze, Minister of
Foreign Affairs Bezhuashvili, Minister of Defense Kezerashvili, as well as
members of civil society. Mr. Wood is in Tbilisi to discuss Georgia’s
contributions to Operation Iraqi Freedom, U.S. support of Georgia’s NATO
membership, and Georgia’s ongoing democratic reforms.
