U.S. Embassy Celebrates Earth Day
Tbilisi – The United States Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia and the Georgian Culture Promotion and Development Fund in Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will award the national winners of a youth art contest dedicated to the 37th anniversary of Earth Day. The contest is based on the theme "What is important.
to you about our environment?" The event will take place on April 23 at 4:00 p.m. at Tbilisi Public School # 1.
Nine national winners from ages 10-15 were selected by a U.S. Embassy panel headed by Public Affairs Officer Rowena Cross-Najafi, and high resolution photos of the winning artworks were sent to Washington, D.C., for the international youth art contest which will award special prizes to international winners.
The U.S. Department of State celebrates Earth Day every year on April 22 to mark the importance of environmental protection.
