U.S. Department of State Releases Human Rights Reports for 2005
On Wednesday, March 8, 2006, the U.S. Department of State presented the 2005 Human Rights Reports to Congress. Every year, the Department of State compiles a Human Rights Report for each nation, including Georgia. These annual country reports on human rights practices are a widely respected human rights mechanism. The reports remain an important tool for the U.S. Government in determining foreign policy strategies that promote the development of democratic systems and principals, and remedy abuse and disregard for human rights throughout the world. The full Human Rights Report for all countries is available in English on the U.S. Embassy of Georgia website: http://georgia.usembassy.gov. A Georgian language version the country specific report on Georgia will be available on the Embassy’s Georgian language website: http://georgia.usembassy.gov/ge/.
