U.S. Ambassador to OSCE Julie Finley to visit Georgia
Julie Finley, the U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Security
and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), will be visiting Georgia from
January 19-24. During her stay in Tbilisi, Ambassador Finley will
meet with senior officials from the Georgian government, members
of parliament, representatives of the OSCE Mission to Georgia, and
the UN Special Representative for Georgia, Heidi Tagliavini, as
well as senior staff from the U.S. Embassy.
Ambassador Finley will bring an OSCE perspective to these discussions,
which will address a range of issues relevant to Georgia's security,
democracy, and continued development - including exploring ways
ahead for the peace negotiations in South Ossetia. Ambassador Finley
will also be traveling to Akhalkalaki to gain an overview of the
environmental and economic conditions there and to explore how the
OSCE could possibly contribute to the redevelopment of the region.
Ambassador Finley's biography and the U.S. Mission to the OSCE's
statements on Georgia-related topics are available online at http://osce.usmission.gov
