USS KLAKRING in Batumi

The U.S. military ship KLAKRING visited Batumi for a scheduled training stop on the Black Sea port from March 31 - April 3.  The crew of the Klakring engaged in training exercises along side Georgian sailors, demonstrating the approach and boarding of suspicious craft, and conducting emergency drills.  The vessel hosted a visit from President Mikheil Saakashvili and other high-ranking military officials.  During their stopover, American sailors planted trees in a nearby village and managed to fit in a soccer game with children from the orphanage in Urekhi.
