Georgian Wine to gain broader coverage in U.S.

On June 4, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Department for Vine and Wine (SAMTRESTI). This document will establish a consistent channel for information exchange regarding the import and export of Georgian alcohol products to the U.S and insure high quality of Georgian exports to the U.S.  The MOU was signed by TTB Assistant Administrator William Foster and SAMTRESTI Chairman Vasil Managadze. U.S. Ambassador  John Tefft and Georgia’s Minister of Agriculture, Bakur Kvezereli, attended the signing ceremony at the Ministry of Agriculture. “Georgian wine will get a broader coverage in our country and be enjoyed by many more Americans. … It’s a significant step in our government-to-government relationship to make it easier for Georgian exporters to get into our market and make sure that their products sell well in our country” – Ambassador Tefft said.
