Batumi American Corner hosted a presentation by Erica Rounsefell, an Education Officer of the USAID in Georgia. Approximately 25 Georgian high school and university students, plus an American Teach and Learn with Georgia teacher volunteer, attended the talk. The focus was on the structure of higher education in the U. S., including community colleges, universities, and graduate schools, as well as what college life is like. The students added some new vocabulary related to applying to, and studying at American colleges, including extracurricular activities, dorms, SAT tests, etc. The students were highly participatory and asked lots of questions, with particularly strong interest related to learning more about standards for college admission, roommates, and funding opportunities for students from Georgia.
