On October 30, U.S. Ambassador Norland opened the 10th Annual EducationUSA College Fair at the National Parliamentary Library.  Over 1,000 students met various American university representatives to talk about their future and how colleges in the U.S. can help.  This year’s  fair was organized by the U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with EducationUSA advising centers in Georgia: The Center for International Education (CIE) and Kvali Education Advising Center.  The Fair was part of the 2012 EducationUSA Caucasus Fairs, also held in Baku and Yerevan.

The following 13 American universities will be represented at the Fair in Tbilisi by U.S. university representatives and alumni:

  • Foothill and De Anza Colleges
  • Hawai'i Pacific University
  • John Cabot University
  • Northern Virginia Community College
  • Pace University
  • Savannah College of Art and Design
  • Stephen F. Austin State University
  • SUNY, Buffalo
  • University of Kentucky
  • University of Northern Iowa
  • Vanderbilt University
  • West Virginia University
  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Ambassador Norland noted that the quality of education in the U.S. remains the best in the world and that Georgians who have studied in the America have found it to be an enriching and rewarding experience.  The United States believes in the youth of Georgia, too, and that is why the U.S. has invested in many educational programs to help Georgians study on college campuses all across America, including the FLEX program for high school students, UGRAD program for undergraduate students, and Fulbright program for scholars.
