US Embassy sponsors Disney Youth International Soccer Cup qualifiers (May 23)

The U.S. Embassy was a major sponsor of the Rustavi2 Kids Cup in Georgia, which will send a girls' and a boys' team to Orlando, Florida in July to participate in the under-13 Disney International Youth Soccer Tournament. The Georgia final tournament of 32 teams (16 teams each of boys and girls, for a total of 256 players) took place on May 22 at Georgia's National Stadium, and Amb. and Mrs. Bass attended the opening ceremonies, part of the day's games, the finals, and the awards ceremony. The tournament had involved 6,000 youth soccer players, as well as their families and friends, many of whom traveled to Tbilisi with the teams that qualified for the final tournament.
