U.S. Ambassador Richard Norland was in Bakuriani and Borjomi over the weekend of October 25 – 27 to participate in the Tbilisi School of Political Studies Electoral Conference.  He also took time to hike in the beautiful Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park and was extremely impressed with the diversity of wildlife and fauna available in the area.  He can’t wait for a return visit.    While in Borjomi, he also participated in a television interview with Borjomi TV where he discussed the important roles that civil society and media, especially regional media, play in democratic societies.  He emphasized that the U.S. Embassy will continue to promote media freedom throughout Georgia and looks forward to working with the Government of Georgia, civil society and media organizations to promote the idea that even the smallest voice from the tiniest village must be heard.
