The U.S. Embassy in Georgia Announces The Democracy Commission Small Grants Program Competition for 2007
Tbilisi, Georgia-- The U.S. Embassy in Georgia announces the opening of the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program Competition for 2007.
The Commission, chaired by the Ambassador and represented by the Public Affairs Officer, will award grants up to 24,000 U.S. Dollars to indigenous Georgian non-profit, non-governmental and educational organizations that support the following initiatives:
- Civil society development
- Free flow of information (including support for independent media)
- Transparency in government
- Public education and advocacy
- Rule of law and legal reform
- Conflict resolution
- Human rights and ethnic and minority rights
- Civic education
- Economic development
The deadline for submission of applications is December 15, 2006. While final approval of grants is carried out in Washington, the technical review process may last up to three months. Completed applications shall be mailed or hand delivered to the Public Affairs Office, U.S. Embassy, 11 George Balanchine Street, Tbilisi 0131, Georgia.
