U.S. Embassy Announces Recruitment for Community Connections Program
September 9, 2000

Tbilisi - Brent Beemer, Senior Program Officer for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department; Sharon Hudson-Dean, Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Embassy in Georgia; and Polina Makievsky, Country Director for the American NGO Project Harmony will be announcing the official start of recruitment for the Community Connections Program in Georgia at a press conference on Monday, September 11, 2000.

The Community Connections Program is a professional training program conducted in the United States for Georgian professionals in the fields of small and medium business, special education, NGO development, agriculture and public health. This year, 90 professionals from Adjara, Imereti, Samegrelo, Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions will be selected to participate in the program and will be hosted in a total of five US communities. Since 1997, over 295 Georgians have participated in the program. Program alumni will be present during the press conference to comment on their experiences.
