U.S. Ambassador to Visit Guria Site

Tbilisi— On August 3, U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Yalowitz will join the Governor of Guria, Carlo Gujabidze, at the Georgia Assistance Initiative (GAI) program site for health education in Natanebi, Guria region. The U.S. Ambassador and the governor will visit an International Medical Corps (IMC) health education training workshop for women.
The U.S. government supports the $8 million Georgia Assistance Initiative (GAI), funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by Save the Children Federation. The GAI is implemented in Guria, Samegrelo and Imereti.
The GAI is designed to assist vulnerable communities affected by ongoing social and economic insecurity in Georgia. The GAI assists communities to address priority needs in shelter, basic infrastructure rehabilitation, income generation, and health. Tandem to this effort, the GAI also assists government agencies, international organizations and local non-governmental entities in coordinating and monitoring humanitarian assistance and development efforts while measurably contributing to the Government’s capacity to respond to future crises. The GAI implementing partners are CARE, IMC, ADRA, and UMCOR.
The workshop will take place at 9:45 a.m. at the Social Club in Natanebi, Guria.
