U.S. Government Supports Business Association Training Program

Tbilisi--Twenty five Georgian business associations will take part in a management training program in Bakuriani on June 25-30, with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the development assistance agency for the U.S. government. Speaking at the opening ceremony on June 25 will be Michael Farbman, USAID Caucasus mission director; George Kvirikashvili, member of Parliament; and Fady Asly, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia.
During the training program, business association leaders will participate in seminars and workshops on strategic planning, membership development, association marketing, public policy advocacy, finance and budgeting, and the role of business associations in a democratic system. Business association leaders participating in the training are from Tbilisi, Gori, Ozurgeti, Batumi, Kutaisi, Khashuri, and Telavi.
USAID supports small and medium enterprise development in Georgia through the Georgia Enterprise Support Program (GESP). Implemented by Sibley International, GESP assists Georgian enterprises by promoting the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises, business associations, credit unions, and professional service firms. As part of GESP, the training program in Bakuriani is carried out by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).
