Senator John Kerry Visits Georgia

Senator John Kerry (D-MA), will visit Georgia to meet with President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Mgaloblishvili, Members of Parliament as well as leaders of the opposition on December 13 to discuss U.S.-Georgia bilateral relations and current political affairs. In January 2009, Senator Kerry will become the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Senator Kerry was the Democratic Presidential Candidate in the 2004 U.S. Presidential Elections. He served as the Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Kerry is a Vietnam veteran, and was a spokesman for Vietnam Veterans Against the War when he returned home from service. Before entering the Senate, he served as a District Attorney and Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts.
