U.S. Donates Export Control Licensing System

September 29, 2010

On September 29 the Revenue Service of Georgia will celebrate the activation of the export control licensing software system, called "Tracker." The U.S. Embassy Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program donated Tracker equipment, software and training, worth about GEL 450,000, to the Government of Georgia.  This state-of-the-art licensing system will replace the manual system used by the Ministries of Finance, Defense, Economy and Sustainable Development, and Environment and Natural Resources.

The system is specifically designed to assist with strategic trade control processes in Georgia and is a defense against the illegal international movement of military weapons, dual use commodities, and nuclear material. The Deputy Ministers of the above-named ministries will attend the event as will the U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires, Kent Logsdon.  The donation of the "Tracker" system is yet one more effort by the U.S. Government to help Georgia to protect its citizens while enabling efficient monitoring of commerce at its borders.
