Ambassador Bass Delivers Humanitarian Aid at Tbilisi State Medical University

On November 2, Ambassador John Bass will participate in a ceremonial hand-over of U.S. medical assistance at the Tbilisi Medical University (TMU). The event will be hosted by UMCOR as part of the Physicians with Heart Humanitarian Airlift supported by the U.S. Department of State.
On October 30 C-17 military cargo plane of the U.S. Air Force delivered 7.2 million dollar worth humanitarian cargo of medicines and supplies to Tbilisi. U.S. Ambassador John Bass and Georgian Minister of Health Alexander Kvitashvili greeted the arrival of the cargo at the airport. The humanitarian project has been coordinated with the Georgian Ministry of Health.
During the ceremony today a symbolic box of ophthalmologic medicines will be handed over to the Ophthalmology Department of the TMU for further distribution to several ophthalmologic clinics in Georgia. Representatives from the recipient medical facilities from Tbilisi and the regions will also attend the hand-over ceremony.
