Georgia’s Public Broadcasting Company Discusses State Department’s Human Rights Report
On March 12, Joye Davis-Kirchner, Political Officer, talked to journalists from Georgian Public TV’s Channel One and Public Radio about 2007 Human Rights Report’s section on Georgia. The annual report is mandated by Congress and covers the human rights conditions in Georgia and in many other countries of the world. Georgia’s HRR noted significant improvements in judicial reform, trafficking in persons and religious freedom, while areas of improvement were listed as prison conditions, protections for domestic violence victims, judicial transparency and a transparent investigation into the events of November 7. All regions of Georgia are included in the report, to include South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
