Teachers Share Experiences At The Regional English Teaching Caucasus Conference In Kiev
The U.S. Department of State’s Regional English Language Officer in Kiev, Lisa Harshbarger, invited nine educators from Georgia, including three from Abkhazia, and U.S. Embassy Tbilisi’s Senior English Language Fellow, John Scafidi, to attend the 3rd Regional English Teaching Caucasus Conference on Curriculum Development. The conference took place on May 14-15, 2007 in Kiev, Ukraine. The main topic of the conference was how to correlate English language levels of proficiency within the Caucasus with the standards of the Common European Framework.
Mr. Scafidi presented a workshop on Oral Presentations and Georgian curriculum expert from the Ministry of Education, Marika Chkikvadze, spoke about the strides Georgia has made in adopting European standards. It was a two day conference of learning and sharing among educators from the Caucasus region.
