Many guests, including government representatives, academics, students, and media, attended the official opening ceremony of the American Corner.
The Zugdidi American Corner is a joint program between the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section and the Zugdidi Public Library. The Corner functions as an American-style library created to foster mutual understanding between Georgia and the United States by providing information about U.S culture, history and society. The collection offers reference titles, fiction, business and government publications, English teaching materials, and access to CD-ROMs, DVDs and Internet. In its role as a cultural center, the Zugdidi American Corner hosts speakers, clubs and classes to help citizens improve their English and learn more about the U.S.
American Corners are also located in Tbilisi, Telavi, Gori, Khashuri and Batumi. Public demand for the American Corners’ information and programming resources ensure that the American Corners program will continue to expand in Georgia. |
