Train-the-Trainer Courses held at ETAG, Tbilisi
From June 16th to June 23rd Senior English Language Fellow Diane Millar organized and ran two Train-the-Trainer courses for ETAG (English Teachers’ Association of Georgia) teachers. In the first eight-day course 12 trainees from around the country learned how to become teacher trainers for the ‘Language Development for English Teachers’ Course. These trainees worked with Ms. Millar and three local teacher trainers for five hours each day. At the end of the course seven trainees were certified as full trainers and three trainees were named as co-trainers. These teacher trainers will now be able to deliver the 40-hour professional development course in their regions. The second three-day course was entitled ‘Books-in-a-Box.’ In this course, 16 young promising teachers were trained on how to plan and deliver a one-hour workshop based on books donated to ETAG by the U.S. Department of State. In the fall these teachers will deliver their workshops at regional ETAG branches and regional schools. In this way they will be able to promote the work of ETAG and encourage teachers to use new materials. |
