Future Journalists Of Georgia Honored
On June 20, Georgia Today Newspaper hosted an award ceremony at the Marriott Tbilisi honoring participants of the Future Journalist project. U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Representative Torrey Goad presented tenth grade Tika Janjghava of Tbilisi with the Future Journalists Certificate of Appreciation for her participation in the program and article, "One day in the US Embassy".
Georgia Today Newspaper organized the Future Journalist project to implement critical thought and civic appreciation among talented and promising Georgian youth. Ten Future Journalists were selected through a highly competitive application process. These ten youth, ranging in age from eighth to tenth grade, then visited government and business organizations throughout the capital, conducting interviews and preparing newspaper articles based on their experiences. The articles were composed by the youth in English, thus facilitating their demand of the language. These articles were then published in Georgia Today’s weekly edition "Kids Today" and distributed nationally.
Representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Pepsi, Marriott Tbilisi, Ministry of Education, British Council Georgia, UNICEF, TV Imedi, Tbilisi Airport, Procredit Bank and national journalists attended the award ceremony. |
