Fulbright Scholar Launches A Great Books Summer Program In Tbilisi
U.S. Fulbright Scholar, Director of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Charles Fairbanks, together with his American and Georgian colleagues has launched a summer program for Georgian students on liberal education. The six week summer program will offer close readings of key texts in the Great Books course, summer term, including the Bible, Homer, Aristophanes, and Plato – all in English. The summer program will also prepare students applying to American colleges or universities by acquainting them with American educational opportunities, accustoming them to seminar discussions like those at the best American institutions and providing students who wish to practice taking parts of the SAT the opportunity to do so. Students who have been admitted to a Georgian University will earn credits from the Tbilisi State University for their participation in the summer program. The program costs are covered by the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation and the Fulbright Fellowship Program of the U.S. Government. |
