September 1, AMBASSADOR MILES ATTENDS GTEP GRADUATION CEREMONIES

Tbilisi - Ambassador Miles, President Shevaradnadze, Georgian Minister of Defense David Tevzadze and other dignitaries attended the graduation ceremonies of the third battallion of Georgian soldiers from the Georgian Train and Equp Program, which is funded by the United States. Phase III, under the operational control of U.S. Marine Corps Major Chris Stillings, trained the 560-man 113th Shavnabada Light Infantry Battallion/ 11th Mechanized Brigade in conducting patrol-base operations, urban-terrain operations, ambush procedures, platoon-level raids, long-range patrols, daylight company-level attacks, and night defensive operations, as well as first aid.
