US EDUCATION FAIR DRAWS CLOSE TO 500 IN TBILISI - On September 25-26, Public Affairs Section Tbilisi organized the first annual education and job fair in the Caucasus
The Embassy- and ECA-sponsored event at the new Marriott Hotel included two simultaneous rooms of lectures and a ballroom filled with exhibitor booths. Lecture topics included USG-sponsored exchange programs, getting an MBA in the US, resume writing tips, and western vs Russian/Caucasian human resource management styles. The nearly 500 participants included alumni of U.S. Government exchange programs, English-speaking students from universities across Georgia, and a delegation of students from Armenia escorted by the PAO from Yerevan. The opening of the event was attended by the first Deputy Minister of Education and the rectors of the largest Georgian universities, as well as all major TV channels, which carried news pieces on their morning talk shows. According to one FSA program alumna, "I learned a lot about how to actually use my experience in the US to get a job. Some of these things I never thought of before."
