American Sculptor Joins International Team of Artists in Ushguli
From August 18th-28th American sculptor and artist Stretch traveled to Georgia to participate in the second land art project "Roof." For 10 days together with other artists from Germany, France, Israel, Kosovo and Georgia, Stretch worked in Ushguli, in Svaneti region, the highest inhabited place in Europe. Stretch's travel to Georgia was partially funded by the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi and partially by the Georgian National Gallery. The major goal of the program was to promote mutual understanding between artists from disparate backgrounds, as well as to popularize and promote the region of Svaneti, a place with unique customs and traditions. The program also helped to promote the integration of Georgian art into the global scene. All the works created during this collaboration were filmed extensively, and a special documentary about the project is being prepared for airing on Imedi TV; a photo exhibit at the Georgian National Gallery and a photo album are also envisioned.
