PAS Holds Workshop for American Corners Coordinators in Batumi

July 26-27, PAS used recently awarded American Corners Maintenance funds to hold a national workshop for eight American Corners Coordinators. Information Resource Specialist Bill Middleton, TDY from Vienna, was also present. In roughly a year the number of corners in Georgia will almost double from 4-8. The workshop provided an orientation for new or recent coordinators and an opportunity for veteran coordinators to discuss successes, problems and future plans. During the workshop the group developed a uniform reporting system that reduces the burden on Coordinators and increases the accuracy of information available to Post and Washington. The Embassy currently operates American Corners in libraries in Telavi, Tbilisi, Gori, Khashuri and Batumi. A second corner is planned for Tbilisi and Zugdidi.
