Georgian Artists Take Top Prizes in Jazz Festival Poster Contest

On June 23, Ambassador Tefft and Mr. Temur Chkonia, President of Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, awarded prizes to the winners of the first poster contest at TMS Gallery. The contest was a joint endeavor of the U.S. Embassy, Jazz Festival organizer Eastern Promotions and TMS Gallery. It was an open contest to all residents of Georgia regardless of background. All posters were dedicated to the Coca-Cola Tbilisi Jazz Festival.

From more than 60 submitted art works, the best 30 were displayed at TMS Gallery. The purpose of the contest was to promote artists, especially younger artists, and to encourage them in their artistic careers. First prize was won by Alexander Berdishev; this poster will be used by Eastern Promotions for promoting the 2007 Jazz Festival. Second and third prizes were won by Kakha Chomakhidze and Manuchar Kortua, respectively.
