As part of the U.S. Government commitment of $1 Billion assistance to Georgia to help rebuild following the August 2008 war, on Thursday November 20 in Tbilisi Ambassador John Danilovich, the CEO of Millennium Challenge Corporation signed an amendment to add $100 Million to the $295 Million Georgia has already received through the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Additional funding has been added to road construction projects in Samtse-Javakheti, to water projects in three cities, and a gas pipeline project. Prime Minister Mgaloblishvili signed for the Georgian government and praised the work of MCC. Speaking of U.S. support Finance Minister Nika Gilauri stated “This is the timeliest and the most efficient aid Georgia has received so far since the August events.” Press interest was very broad and PAS organized five one on one interviews as well as a press conference for the signing ceremony.
