McCain and Obama Stand-ins Go “Face-to-Face”

Debate Club members at the Tbilisi Youth Palace American Corners played the roles of “top advisers” to presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama in a mock town hall debate on October 30.  The group of 25 high-school students had clearly done their homework and were well informed about the candidates’ backgrounds and their platforms on issues such as foreign policy (relations with Georgia and Russia, the way in Iraq), energy, healthcare, economy and tax policy. Discussion with the debaters at this unique experience for American Corner patrons continued long after the formal debate ended.
