October 23, ANOTHER FREE INTERNET CENTER OPENS IN GEORGIA

Yet another Internet Center was opened by the U.S.-government sponsored Internet Access and Training Program (IATP, which is administered by IREX) in Georgian region of Shida-Kartli on October 23. This center is located in the Khashuri Central Public Library, the site of a future "American Corner". The library director, Ms. Rusudan Enjibadze, visited the U.S. earlier this year on a professional exchange program for library managers, administered by Project Harmony. Representatives of the U.S. Embassy, IATP/IREX, the local government and the Georgian Ministry of Culture attended the oepning ceremony. The center offers free Internet access and training to interested public and aluni of U.S. government programs.
