Ambassador Tefft Visits National Forest Firebombed in War

On September 23, Ambassador John Tefft was the first foreign official to tour areas of the National Forest near Borjomi to see the destruction caused by Russian incendiary bombs.   “These forests are a world ecological treasure and the whole world is harmed when this kind of damage is done, not just Georgia” observed the Ambassador to crews from Georgia’s three largest television stations.  Giorgi Khachidze, the Governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti, joined Ambassador Tefft along with officials from the Georgian Forestry Service and USAID.
