September 5, 2008 the USS Mount Whitney, the flag ship of the U.S. 6th Fleet sailed into Poti to deliver 17 tons of humanitarian relief.  U.S. sailors unloaded relief supplies as Russian soldiers still occupying Poti watched from their checkpoints.  Ten camera crews from local and international media filmed the arrival and unloading, with three crews filming live via satellite.
