U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Steams into Batumi

August 29, 2008 the Coast Guard Cutter Dallas arrived in Batumi, the second ship to bring humanitarian relief supplies to western Georgia.  The Dallas brought 15 tons of humanitarian supplies from a U.S. military base in Crete to western Georgia. In Batumi the supplies were turned over to USAID contractors for delivery to camps and shelters set up by the government of Georgia to temporarily house the estimated 130,000 internally displaced persons.
