A/PAO Burke O'Connor with Director Roman Lomadze of the Association of Invalids of Guria
August 2, USG AWARDS A GRANT TO GEORGIA'S ASSOCIATION OF INVALIDS TO START INTEGRATED EDUCATION
On August 2 Acting Public Affairs Officer Burke O'Connor and Cultural Assistants Dali Homeriki and Nino Gagua visited the Association of Invalids of Guria in Ozurgeti, western Georgia, a new Democracy Commission grantee for 2003-04. Starting from September, the Association, chaired by Mr. Roman Lomadze, will host some 100 disabled and 72 healthy children in a newly renovated building full of natural light. The children will learn computers and Internet together, get free access to Internet, study how to communicate via e-mail and work with basic Microsoft Office programs. This project will become a way back into society for many of the isolated disabled children in Ozurgeti.
