July 17, U.S. EMBASSY GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY IN TBILISI, GEORGIA
On July 17 Ambassador Richard Miles was joined by Georgian President Shevardnadze and Director of Overseas Buildings Operations of the Department of State General Charles Williams at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new U.S. Embassy in Georgia. The embassy is expected to be completed in 2005 and cost $58 million. The ceremony was also attended by Georgian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from the business community.
