The U.S. Embassy in Georgia Announces the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program Competition for 2009

 

Tbilisi, Georgia-- The U.S. Embassy in Georgia announces the opening of the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program Competition for 2009.

 

The Commission, chaired by the Ambassador and represented by the Public Affairs Officer, will award grants of up to 24,000 U.S. Dollars to indigenous Georgian non-profit, non-governmental, media and educational organizations that support the following initiatives:

 

  • Economic development: empowering self-sufficiency, support for entrepreneurship proficiency.
  • Civic integration: minorities’ economic, social and cultural integration within Georgia.
  • Media development: strategic business development, media advocacy and professional growth.


The deadline for submission of applications is March 6, 2009. While final approval of grants is carried out in Washington D.C., the technical review process may last three to six months. Completed applications shall be mailed or hand delivered to the Public Affairs Office, U.S. Embassy, 11 George Balanchine Street, Tbilisi 0131, Georgia.
