Obtaining Civil Records in Georgia

The Republic Archive keeps all civil records for the entire country of Georgia---birth or marriage certificates, divorce decrees etc. To obtain civil records, you will have to visit the Republic Archive in Tbilisi and make a formal request. Republic Archive

Note: A power of attorney is required to request a record belonging to someone other than yourself. For example, you will need a power of attorney from your Georgian spouse if you are requesting his/her birth certificate. However, you do not need a power of attorney if you are requesting your own marriage certificate.
