Vice President Biden in Georgia (July 22-23, 2009)

Vice-President Joseph Biden renewed America's commitment to Georgia during an official visit to the nation's capital on July 22-23.  Upon arrival, he attended a dinner hosted by President Mikheil Saakashvili, followed by an outdoor concert in the courtyard of the office of the presidency. On Thursday afternoon, VP Biden met with opposition leaders and members of civil society, gave a speech before the Georgian Parliament, and held an informal discussion with internally displaced children at Tbilisi's Youth Palace. He departed Tbilisi on Air Force 2 at 8:00 pm local time.  For transcripts of the Vice President's dinner remarks and speech to parliament, click on the links below.
