U.S. Government Sponsors the Georgia IT Innovation Conference 2009

Ambassador John Bass and Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri opened the Georgia Information Technology (IT) Innovation Conference, a collaborative initiative designed to hone Georgia's competitive IT edge. USAID, Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard partnered with the ICT Business Council of Georgia and State Commission of E-Governance Development of Georgia to host the event. MagtiCom and Next Generation Technologies provided additional sponsorship. The conference was aimed towards creating partnerships among the public and private sectors, and NGOs in the region, to stimulate innovation and competitiveness. The conference covered the topics of e-governance and policy, cyber security, the development of regional telecommunications markets, intellectual property rights, and overall socio-economic implications of IT. The conference concluded with an awards ceremony honoring industry efforts to introduce and implement best practices in the IT sector in Georgia.
