U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Tina S. Kaidanow visited Georgia September 13-16 as part of a familiarization trip in her new position. During the visit she met with the Georgian President and Speaker of the Parliament, as well as opposition leaders and representatives of civil society.  "I want to hear what people are thinking and that's the purpose of my trip here. It's been a very active month, lots of things going on and I would like to engage with everybody and hear their thoughts," DAS Kaidanow said.  During an interview by Rustavi-2, Georgia's most popular television station, DAS Kaidanow urged Georgia to look forward and focus on improving the daily lives of citizens through further economic and democratic reform. She also stressed strong and consistent U.S. support for Georgian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
