Georgian Children Enjoy American Holiday Traditions
December 22-23, 2009
Public Diplomacy Program Assistant Christine Donovan shared U.S. holiday traditions with Georgian children at the American Corners in Akhaltsikhe, Khashuri and Gori. As part of the celebration, the children enjoyed photos of Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, New York City, and other regions of the U.S. They sang Christmas carols and were treated to traditional holiday cookies. More than 100 American Corner visitors shared holiday customs and learned how diversity in cultural heritage and climate have resulted in a variety of holiday traditions across the U.S. The children in Akhalstikhe prepared a special surprise for their guest, performing songs and enacting poems that they had learned in English class.
