December 14, 2009
Ambassador John Bass met with students and lecturers from the International Relations Department of Tbilisi State University
Ambassador John Bass met with students and lecturers from the International Relations Department of Tbilisi State University during their research visit to the American Center of Information Resources (ACIR) at the U.S. Embassy in Georgia. The Ambassador took advantage of this visit to lead a lengthy round table discussion with the students.
After providing a brief overview of the U.S. Embassy and how it supports the US-Georgian relationship, the Ambassador gave students the opportunity to ask him any question about foreign policy. The question and answer session touched on a number of topics, including America's role in reducing tensions between Georgia and Russia, the current role of the United Nations in foreign affairs, and Georgia's contributions in Afghanistan. The students also asked the Ambassador for his advice on how to prepare for a career in foreign affairs after their studies. During the visit, the Embassy's Cultural Attaché gave a brief presentation about U.S. government educational exchange programs, and ACIR staff explained the robust electronic database and other resources available at the ACIR to assist students with their studies and research.
