Ambassador Bass Speaks about Democracy on Georgian TV (October 28)

During a live interview on Georgian national broadcaster Rustavi-2's "Good Morning Georgia" news program, Ambassador John Bass noted the role of citizen participation in sustaining democracy and underscored the importance of on-going election code reforms. "I am impressed with the passion and commitment people have for democracy here, it's important to make sure that people have the opportunity to participate in government and convey their views to government," he remarked. Ambassador Bass reiterated unwavering U.S. support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and said the U.S is committed to helping Georgia attract the occupied territories back to a peaceful, democratic and prosperous country.  Ambassador Bass also expressed his strong respect for professional journalism and stressed the importance of free media:  "Without access to objective information it's hard to make good decisions."
